Screw Beer!

Screw you, beer...
Curse you, beer...
F‑you, beer...
...
I love you, beer.

Welcome to Screw Beer — a place where we celebrate the wonderful world of beer with a twist of humour and a healthy dose of irreverence. Whether you’re a seasoned beer nerd or someone who just wants something cold after a long day, I hope you’ll find something here worth sipping on.

This is my little corner of the internet to rant, rave, praise, complain, and occasionally fall in love with whatever ends up in my glass. Think of it as a beer diary — honest, unfiltered, and definitely not BeerAdvocate or Untappd (both great, by the way, but this is… different).

So grab a pint, sit back, and let's raise a toast to the joy of beer – because life is too short to drink bad beer!

The Rating

What’s a 4? What’s a 4.03? Is that better? Worse? I’ve had excellent 3.8 beers and thrown away 4.2 beers — and 4.2 is already considered a “great” score on Untappd.

The truth is simple: rating systems are flawed.

They’re biased, subjective, and heavily influenced by hive mentality. A decimal point doesn’t tell you anything about whether you will enjoy a beer. So I use a different approach — a brutally simple one:
  1. Would I drink it for free?
Sounds easy, but it isn’t. There’s only so much we can drink before the consequences kick in… so why waste my limited quota on something I don’t enjoy, especially when I know there are beers out there I love? I’m always up for trying new things — but if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.

  2. Would I pay for it again?
This is the financial reality check. Let’s say I liked it — would I actually spend money on it? And if two similar beers exist, one costing $5 and the other $20… does it really make sense to pay four times more for the same experience?

Anything else?

Yes, thank you for asking...some reviews will include a photo of the beer in the glass immediately after a normal pour.
The glass photo is there to show the carbonation, the head, and how the beer actually looks when poured. I’m not trying to show off a perfect pour with a massive head — just a realistic, everyday pour so you know what to expect.
